This Saturday, April 28, is Independent Bookstore Day! Please go out and support your local purveyor of bound tomes. I really do not want to have to imagine a post-apocalyptic scenario where bookstores do not exist. In fact, I resolve that if the world ends and society comes crashing down around us, the FIRST thing I am doing is setting up a bookstore.
ANYHOW, since everything is FINE and society is FINE and we’re all FINE, please go support the bookstores that are already out there so they can stick around and then I don’t have to manage my own and can keep writing.
In Connecticut, twenty local bookstores are doing this awesome Connecticut Independent Bookstore Day Passport challenge which can snag a daytrip-and-book-lover $500 in gift cards for visiting 15 or more bookstores and getting their passports stamped! This challenge is severely tempting me! Check your local independent bookstores to see if anyone’s doing this near you, then let me see your passports as you fill them up!
And while you’re out there supporting indie booksellers, if you’re looking for an autographed copy of FLOTSAM, Byrd’s Books in Bethel, CT is your answer! Locals can stop by, or you can contact them to have them ship one directly to you!
